And he answered, Fear not; for they that be with us are more than they that be with them – 2nd King 6:16
One thing we know for sure, we will all have the opportunity to prove God’s Word is true in our lives despite the circumstances.
Elisha, the prophet of God, had warned the king of Israel about the Syrians, where they were camping, and where they planned to attack the Israelites. But every time they planned an attack, God would warn the prophet, and the prophet would warn the king.
The Syrian King thought one of his people was a spy and would tell the Israelites about his plan. Still, one of his servants told him none of his people were spies, but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, told the king of Israel words he had spoken in his bed-chamber.
On this note, the king was angry and sent spies to capture Elisha. The Syrians camped around the city by night. When the servant of Elisha awakened early and saw the host camp around them, he feared. The servant knew they were defeated; it was only him and the prophet; how would they defeat this vast army?
When the servant informed the prophet what was happening, the first thing the prophet instructed his servant was “Fear not”; it was more with them than the Syrian army. Elisha prayed and asked God to open his servant’s eyes; when the servant looked again, he saw the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
Just as the angels were around Elisha, the angels of God are around those that love Him and reverence Him. You may have more bills than funds coming in monthly, but God has promised that He would supply every one of your needs.
You may not have enough money to pay your rent or your mortgage, but God said, what concerns you, concerns Him, and would perfect that what concerns you.
You may be praying for your spouse and the salvation of your household; God’s Word says that He will save not only you but also your household. The believing wife sanctifies the non-believing spouse; your children are now holy because of your faith and submission to God. You may not see it, but God is working behind the scene.
You may have been stricken with a sickness or disease, but God’s Word says the stripes of Jesus heal you. If you don’t receive your healing on this side, you will be healed when you go into glory (In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yield her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations – Revelation 22:2). So, don’t worry, you have a win, win, there is no defeat.
When we pray and ask God to allow His angels to be encamped around us as we travel, in homes, in our communities, at the store, and at the gas stations, wherever we may be, ask for protection, and God will provide protection. You will not be defeated by scams, harm, car-jacking, or identity theft. Pray, and believe God!
