Wisdom is the principal thing: therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting understanding – Proverbs 4:7.

Most businesses, schools, and courthouses have a set of rules governing clothing to be worn, but when people come into the house of God, they think they can wear anything.

Everyone is not church orientated, but when this is the case, ask someone you know who is a Christian what would be appropriate for church. The church is to be honored, if we can honor other facilities and their rules, we should have no problem honoring the church rules.

Many times, congregants don’t know how to dress when attending church as they did in years passed. The Mothers of the church would confront those not dressed appropriately with lovingkindness. God has given everyone wisdom, and we should know that we don’t wear what we wear at parties to church.

Yes, many professing Christians are attending parties and secular concerts; it shouldn’t be, but they are, so be aware of who you are asking for information about church attire. Don’t go by what you see other church people wear, because the majority of them are still trying to live in both worlds. You can tell the difference between a businessperson’s dress and a thug, there is a difference in the dress expressing who they are. It’s the same with the attire for church attendance.

Dresses should be a certain length, not showing a person’s thighs, or dresses or skirts that cover the bosom. This type of dressing is enticing and tempting to the male congregants. We as women don’t want to make anyone stray away from their faith and commitment because of the way we’re dressed.

When we’re in the sanctuary, we should respect it as the dwelling place of God, greet people, but long conversations should be in the church’s fellowship hall before or after church service. If we can respect businesses, schools, and courthouses, we should also respect the house of God.

We can’t go to court talking loudly or dressed any kind of way. If we can respect man, why not respect God and His dwelling?
