Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden; and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30.
When someone invites you to dinner, a movie, or to their home, it indicates the person enjoys being in your presence. They enjoy your company and talking with you. When someone invites you to be with them, it means they care about you.
Usually, when you’re invited somewhere, you have to prepare yourself for the occasion. You want to look and smell your best; you dress to impress. To be invited somewhere means you’re special, and yet so many people don’t accept the invitation Jesus gives them.
Jesus invites everyone to come to Him and to come as they are. One can’t prepare themselves to be invited to be with Jesus; only He can prepare them to be in His presence. He invites those who have been hurt, disappointed, and those who are addicted to drugs, alcohol, and people. Whatever sin one may commit, Jesus welcomes them to come and be changed and healed.
Whatever life has thrown at you, He’s inviting you to bring it to Him, and He will give you rest. Sometimes we need rest in our minds from the battle that has been going on in our minds. Someone we can talk to when we can’t talk to others about what’s going on in our minds and our lives.
There is nothing you can have done that He would not accept you coming to Him. Burdens and concerns can be brought to Him. All you have to do is talk to Him about your burdens and concerns just as you would with a friend. Bring your spouse, children, employer, and business to Him and allow Him to give you peace and direction.
He invites His people to visit Him daily to be strengthened, to be at peace, and to be given direction on what is best for them. He has your best interest at heart. We allow Satan to distract us in many way that keeps us from accepting His invitation for fellowship.
He knows what our day will be before we enter it, and He will prepare us for whatever comes that day. But when we neglect His invitation, when things happen, we’re surprised rather than being aware. Start your day with prayer and end your day with prayer. Give the Lord some of the time He has given you daily.
