Then was Jesus was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil – Matthew 4:1.
As Christians, we will all have a wilderness experience; how we come out depends on who our faith and trust will be placed in.
After being baptized, Jesus, the Son of God, was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. This temptation was directed against Jesus’ human nature, indicating that this was a literal experience that He conquered, not merely a mental victory over His thoughts.
When going through a wilderness experience all types of thoughts will come to mind; but because you have the Spirit of God indwelling you, you too can overcome any temptation Satan tries to influence you with.
You have the Spirit indwelling you that raised Jesus from the grave if you have become a Christian with a submitted lifestyle to the Word of God. There is nothing that can defeat you, it may seem like it, but you’re only going through a wilderness experience.
Satan comes to attack our mind, if he can get your mind, then he can defeat you with his attacks with depression, suppression, anger, and sadness. This is why Christians have been admonished to put on the whole armor of God. This weaponry should be placed on daily upon your awakening.
Christians will not grow without wilderness experiences. Our human nature will get relaxed, we stop praying, reading, and studying the Word of God. We only attend church when we feel like it; whereas the Bible has admonished us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves in the Church. As we are planted in the house of God we will flourish (Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God – Psalm 92:13. Satam send forth his imps to watch you, to find where you have become weak and that’s the areas he will attack.
When the Spirit leads us into the wilderness we will come out with victory because the Lord is going into the wilderness with us to make sure we come out with victory. But when we forsake the Word of God and Satan lead us whatever mess we’re in will not cease but will increase because he’s trying to take your faith, your submission to God. He knows when you forsake God, God will allow the enemy to have a field day with you until you come to your senses.
Just because you’re a Christian does not mean you will not have wilderness experience, matter of fact you should be having wilderness experiences often because this indicates you’re in God’s will. Wilderness experiences will cause us to depend on God and not ourselves. They will increase our faith, God does not want us to talk about faith and don’t have it.
Rest in God, know that He’s taking stuff out of you and placing more of Him in you so that you will become in the image of God and His Son.
