Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant Malachi 2:14.

Marriage is beautiful when it’s treated with honor, respect, and love. But when a spouse mistreats his wife in any form, that is not the marriage God wants for His daughter.

Many wives have stayed in abusive marriages because they take the Scripture “God hates divorce”. Yes, He hates divorce, but God does not want His people to be abused in any form or fashion. Abuse comes in other forms, other than physical.

Abuse comes through ways of silent treatment, negative words about you, and emotional and mental abuse. It comes from being responsible for paying all the bills when he does whatever he wants with his money, keeping you wanting and needy. He makes all decisions without discussing them with you. There are so many other ways of being mistreated and abused.

These actions can be just as detrimental to your health as physical abuse. You were created to be loved and cherished. When a man finds a wife and treats her right, he will have favor with God (Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor of the Lord – Proverbs 18:22). He will also be compensated for the way he mistreats his wife.

If children are involved, you’re teaching your children that it is okay to be mistreated and abused and this will become a generational curse, it’s being handed down from the mother to the children and the children to their children.

You don’t need a husband if you’re playing the role of the father, mother, supporter, and provider! What you will allow, God will allow because you’re permitting yourself to be mistreated; God will not go against your will. If you’re in a situation where you can’t defend yourself, seek outside help.

Love yourself, take care of yourself mentally and emotionally. Don’t allow your husband to take your peace or your dignity. Keep your self-esteem and don’t allow anyone to tell you different than what you are! Don’t accept being treated any kind of way; God loves you, and He wants you to be treated with love.
