Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not – Jeremiah 33:3.
In order to hear the voice of God, you don’t have to have a title, but you do have to have a relationship with Him. You can’t recognize what you’re not familiar with. To recognize His voice, you must have a relationship with Him.
Many Christians think the only person God speaks to is the five-fold ministry, which is not true. God will speak to anyone that has a connection with Him through submitting themselves to Him and His Word. Just as we build relationships with friends, spouses, and children, we must take the time to build a relationship with our heavenly Father.
The best relationship you can ever have is one with the Father. God speaks through His written Word. He speaks through people. God has different avenues He speaks to us through, but we must be in tune with His Spirit to know when He’s talking.
God wants you to do more than believe that He is God. He wants you to know Him. Knowing Him will cause one to place their trust completely in Him, knowing that God has their best interest at heart. When Satan and life bring storms into our lives, we will know the One who controls the storms, and we know the One that will not allow life or Satan to defeat us.
We hear many voices throughout the day, and we, as Christians, must be able to distinguish the voice of God and the voice of the Adversary. The voice of the Adversary makes women feel they’re not as good as someone else, bringing about competition, jealousy, and sometimes envy. He brings sadness, depression, and hopelessness through the words he speaks and the words he uses to have others speak to you.
God can speak audibly, but He usually speaks to us through the Holy Spirit by an impression on the person’s spirit. When one builds a relationship with the Father by prayer, fasting, reading and studying His Word, and just having a conversation with Him about your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. He will speak to that person constantly, giving guidance, direction, and instructions through the Holy Spirit.
When a thought comes to your mind that is contrary to the Word of God, you will know that thought did not come from God. Thoughts become actions, and when led by them is what causes many to get in trouble, carrying out actions that are against the will and Word of God.
You need direction, seek God; you need peace, seek God. Feeling lonely? Seek God; He’s just a prayer or praise away. If you want to feel His Spirit, begin to praise Him, think about His goodness, and not what the Adversary bombards your mind with.
God speaks to us through His written Word; when God speaks, He speaks His Word. Take time and build a relationship with the Father. Everything you need is in Him; if He doesn’t have it, He can create It!
