A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways -James 1:8.

Double-minded is literally ‘two souls”. If one part of a person is set on God and the other is set on this world there will be a constant conflict within.

For a marriage to be wholesome, each party has to decide they are ready to be married and no longer want to live a single life. If one day they want to be married and the next day they don’t, this is being double-minded and the marriage would problem end in divorce court.

Double-mindedness can’t be in one’s prayer life or Christian life. If so, their prayers will not be answered and the Christian walk will not be faithful. Just like with a marriage you have to go into it with your whole heart if not the Christian walk will fail.

When one prays they have to believe God will answer the prayer, they can’t pray for something today and tomorrow they decide they don’t want it. Be consistent with your prayers, don’t stop until God tells you, yes, later, or no.

The reason why many prayers have not been answered is because the person has been doub-minded about their prayer. When you pray, pray in faith and with detail; don’t ask God for a husband, business, or home, and not be specific. Whatever you’re praying for be specific; although He’s God, you need to be specific, tell Him exactly what you want in detail!

After being specific with your prayer, be willing to wait without murmuring and complaining and losing faith. Some prayers are answered immediately, and others may have to be waited on. Double-mindedness relates to being easily upset, unreliable, emotionally or psychologically unsettled. It spills into different areas of your life.

Whatever you do, don’t be double-minded with your Christian walk; if so, part of you wants to serve God, and the other part of you wants to serve the world and you find yourself a Sunday Christian and a weekly sinner.

Don’t be a rollercoaster Christian, today you’re happy and have faith in God. Tomorrow you’re sad and you don’t know whether or not He’s going to answer the prayer. Be strong in your commitment to God, and you will be strong in your faith!
