And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not – Galatians 6:9.
Whether you know it or not, you’re in a spiritual battle. You’re fighting an unseen enemy whose job is to make you lose faith before you receive what you’re asking for. He knows that without faith, you can’t please God, so he tries to undermine your faith.
Sarah, the wife of Abraham, was unable to have children, and she had likely been praying for a child for a considerable time. God visited her in her old age, bringing an impossible situation to a miracle. It was years before she received an answer to her prayer, but she did receive an answer.
To receive an answer to your prayer, you must continue praying. Sometimes prayers are answered immediately, and sometimes we have to wait for an answer. If we received everything we ask for immediately, we would, sadly, use God as a substitute for Santa Claus. Another reason we may not receive an immediate answer to our prayers is that God is building our faith.
When you want something bad enough you will pursue it until you receive it, faith has to be the same way. Pursue God in prayer until you receive an answer to your prayer, no matter how long it takes. You may have been praying for something or someone for years and have not seen the manifestation of your prayers.
You may not live to see the answer to your prayer if you’re praying for unsaved loved ones, but the prayer will be answered. God always answers our prayers; the answer may be yes, later, or no, but you will receive a reply. When you believe God for something, you can’t tell everyone what you’re believing God for because their faith may not be on the same level as yours. Keep your faith between you and God, because if people’s faith is not at your level, they will talk you out of your blessing.
Continue praying and believing in God, and you will receive an answer. You must fight the good fight of faith to obtain what you’re praying for. There is an unseen enemy that will try to influence you to give up, he will tempt you with wavering faith, and wavering faith will not receive what they’re praying for. He uses doubt; he knows without faith you can’t please God, so you will not receive an answer to your prayer.
When the enemy comes, he will speak continually in your ear; he wants you to lose faith while you’re waiting. To fight the good fight of faith, you must give yourself a fast, bump up your prayer, and speak God’s Word over what you’re asking for. God moves in faith in Him, not faith in ourselves.
You are a child of God, and just like any good parent, God always tries to give you the best. God is your Father, and He’s waiting to give you the best. He’s waiting to give you abundantly above what you could ask or think. He’s waiting to give you the desires of your heart. He’s waiting for you to fight for what you want, and you fight by using His Word, fasting, reading and studying the Bible, and applying yourself so that you can receive what you’re asking for. He’s waiting for you to be willing to wait and believe in what you’re asking for, no matter how long it takes!
