And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her – Luke 1:38.

Persevere is to continue a course of action despite difficulty and opposition. Many have lost blessings because they got tired and gave up; they thought they couldn’t stand the pressure.

Mary was to marry Joseph, but before they were married, Mary became pregnant. In Mary’s dispensation, if a woman became pregnant out of wedlock, she would be stoned to death. When the angel told Mary she would birth the Savior of the world, her only question was, “How could it be without her not having been with a man?”

After being told how this would happen, Mary was willing to go through the possibility of being stoned to death. She would be the talk of the town; she would no longer be engaged to marry Joseph. She was willing to go through whatever she had to go through to be a submissive vessel. She was not going to give up her chance of birthing the Savior.

Everyone at one time or another has wanted to give up. Even Isaiah wanted to give up and die after he had killed all of Jezebel’s false prophets and heard that Jezebel was looking to kill him. It is the same choice we have all faced when circumstances have brought us to a place of giving up.

We know that if we give up, we will be relieved of the pressure of the moment. And if we press on, we will continue to face all the obstacles that brought us to that point. When we give up, we have already chosen the outcome of our situation. Failure is always the result of quitting.

Successful people are those who have learned to turn crisis moments into stepping stones to future victory. Thomas Edison, on his quest to invent the light bulb, tried more than 6,00 theories and tested more than 6,000 elements to find the perfect filament. What if he had quit on the fourth or fifth time things didn’t work?

Whether it’s starting a business, returning to school, ministry, or even a marriage, you can’t give up if you want to be successful. Christian women are people of faith, and the nature of faith is to believe the impossible and see the invisible.

We give up because we place our faith in what we know and see in the natural. Don’t give up, because there seems to be no answer. What is impossible with you is possible with God. We have a promise from God that He would withhold no good thing from those who walk upright before Him.

If nonbelievers have faith, they can succeed. Surely, you can believe you can achieve because you’re a child of God and He’s going to make sure you prosper in whatever you place your hands to do.
