Keep thy heart with all diligence: for out of it are the issues of life – Proverbs 4:23.
What we allow in our hearts will sooner or later manifest in our speech and character, whether good or bad. What’s in the heart will either bless or curse.
The heart is like a sponge and a vault. It will soak in what we give to it, and it will lock up everything we place in it. Whatever is in our hearts will manifest in our character. Many are suffering from emotional disorders because of what has happened in their lives and will not forgive. Unforgiveness is like a cancer; it will kill you naturally and spiritually.
Unforgiveness causes anxiety, physical pain, or mental anguish. It causes torment and irritates. It is an oppressor and depression. It keeps our prayers from being answered (And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses – Mark 11:25. We can’t go around it or dismiss it, Jesus said Forgive and if we don’t, we will not be forgiven for our trespasses.
Many go to counseling, and there is nothing wrong with it. Still, the majority of the time, the counselor will not get to the root of the problem that is causing depression and oppression because it’s spiritual, and if they don’t have a connection with God, they will not be able to help the person.
Yes, to forgive is easier said than done, but if we ask God to help us to forgive, He will give us a heart to forgive those who have wronged us. Forgiveness is not for the person who committed the actions, but the person who was wronged.
Many are sitting on the church pews with unforgiveness and offense in their hearts, and they can’t figure out why they can’t feel or hear God. Answered prayers will be hindered, oppression and depression will take the person captive in their minds and emotions. Unforgiveness is a stronghold and can only be defeated in one who is willing to forgive.
Nothing should be worth giving your life for, and that’s what happens when we choose not to forgive. We lose our relationship with God, and if we die in our unforgiveness, hell will be our home because we didn’t adhere to the Word of God by forgiving those who have wronged us.
Don’t allow yourself to be in bondage to unforgiveness! God has great things for you, but to receive them, you must choose to submit to Him and His Word.
