And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span (1st Samuel 17:4).

Goliath was well over nine feet tall. His armor and weaponry would weigh over 150 pounds. He was the Philistines’ champion, and he wanted one of the Israelite’s men to fight him.

The Philistines had brought their champion to fight against Israel. He taunted them for forty mornings and evenings twice a day. He spoke to them eighty times, making them more fearful.

Can you imagine fighting against a giant? Spiritually speaking, we fight against giants daily to protect our relationship with God. The giant of fear speaks to us, keeping us from speaking out about what is right and what is wrong.

Giants of discouragement attack our faith. We fight against giants daily in our walk with the Lord. As the giant talked with David, David told the giant about his God (Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou has defied – 1st Samuel 17:45). David knew His God and he came against the giant in the name of the Lord of hosts.

To fight against giants, we must fight with the Spirit of God and the Word of God. As the enemy speaks in your ear, you have to fight. Don’t continue to allow the giants to speak to you words that are against the Word of God and the plan God has for your life.

Giants speak loudly when the Spirit of God speaks softly. When thoughts come to our minds consistently, know that the thought didn’t come from God. God does not harass His people with words; He may speak twice, but it will not be consistently.

As a Christian, you have to discern the thoughts spoken to your mind. If the thought does not align with the Word of God, you must dismiss it; if not, you will come into depression, despair, hurt, and all other thoughts to make you hopeless.

There is not a giant that can come into your life you can’t defeat; use the Word of God and your faith in Him to defeat giants!
