Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtain favor of the Lord – Proverbs 19:22
Marriage is sacred and it was ordained by God; but in today’s generation, many prefer not to marry. God created a woman for a man and a man for a woman (Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created – Genesis 5:2). God brought Eve to Adam as his wife and therefore marriage was ordained by God. When God created man and woman He ordained their marriage, it was created as holy because sin had not entered into the world, therefore, making their marriage holy. Marriage is a commitment as well as submitting ourselves to the Word of God. Marriage is something that has to be groomed and respected by both the husband and wife. Marriage will have good days and there will be bad days, but the good days should always outweigh the bad days. Years ago, divorce wasn’t an option, the husband and wife stayed together because they were trying to keep the commandments of God, and they respected the vow they had made with each other. That was before God was replaced by the opinion of a man.
God never changes neither does His Word so as Christian women we’re obligated to submit ourselves to the Word of God. As women, we should want God’s best and if we wait on God, He will give us His best, the man He has prepared for us. As women, we also have to be prepared for the man God has for us. If we’re waiting for God then we’re waiting for Him to send a husband that has a relationship with Him (Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness – 2nd Corinthians 6:14) ?. This is a written commandment for all those who say they are believers. As believers according to the Word of God, those who believe are light and those who don’t believe are in darkness. As women of God, we also have to be discerning, just because a man says he believes or says he’s a Christian doesn’t make him one. Secondly, we can still be unequally yoked with a Christian, if the person’s spirituality isn’t on the same level. If a Christian marry another Christian whose not fully dedicated to God can and will cause problems in the marriage. Even with marrying a Christian, we should be discerning of their true comment to God and with marriage counseling, the true person will show up.
There will be times when spouses will disagree with one another, but it shouldn’t be to the point of arguing. Someone has to take the initiative to stop before it gets that far. Disagreements should neve be converse with children. Conversing with them will only cause them to be in the middle having to choose between which parent is right or wrong. Years ago, children never heard their parents argue or belittle one another, this should be restored in every family. A prudent wife is one that keeps the family together as a unit, she’s the one that will either bring the family together or bring division. A prudent wife knows how to encourage her spouse to do different chorus without belittling them. When men are respected they will do what’s required of them. As a wife, we’re responsible for fulfilling the needs of our husband, and we can do that by simply allowing God to be the head and the counselor. Divorce is common in today’s generation just as common law marriage is lawful but not by God’s law, just because it’s alright with a man doesn’t make it right with God. As a wife, our goal should be to please God, and if we seek to please God, He will show us how to please our spouse. Enjoy your marriage, and don’t allow anyone or anything to interfer with what God has ordained.
